Blood Banking Workflow

Long-Term Frozen Storage

The Challenge

Samples processed in this laboratory require storage at -80°C for 20 years for regulatory compliance. Staff are required to manually cap all samples and place them into storage racks. When placing samples into storage racks, staff must also scan each sample to register it into a storage location in the LIS for long-term sample tracking.

The laboratory has concerns about repetitive strain injuries (RSI) related to the large volumes of recapping required.
